MALTA

MOROCCO

SCOTLAND

Edinburgh (Both: History & Nightlife). A castle perches on ancient volcanic rock. Underground vaults where 18th-century residents lived hidden lives. ENGLAND

London (Both: History & Nightlife). Two thousand years in a single city. The Romans built it. The Normans conquered it. The Victorians shaped the modern world from it. The British Museum contains artifacts from nearly every civilization that ever existed, and it is completely free. By night: Shoreditch for underground energy, Soho for anything you can think of, Brixton for music that hits different, Camden for creatively chaotic nightlife. This city does not have a closing time.

FRANCE

Paris (Both: History & Nightlife). The Louvre was a royal palace before becoming the world's most visited museum. Notre-Dame has stood since the 12th century. The Catacombs hold six million people in tunnels lined with carefully arranged bones. By night, Le Marais fills with locals spilling out of wine bars at 11 pm on a weeknight. Jazz clubs in Saint-Germain. Late-night Seine river cruises where the city glows on both sides of the water. Long dinners that stretch toward midnight because no one wants them to end.

SPAIN

Seville (History Focus) While Barcelona gets the Instagram traffic, Seville is where Spain's soul lives. The Real Alcázar palace has been continuously occupied by rulers since the 10th century. The cathedral holds the tomb of Christopher Columbus. The entire old city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Deep, layered, and criminally underrated.

Barcelona (Both: History & Nightlife), Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Gothic Quarter with medieval streets. The clubs do not even open until 2 am. By the time you are dancing on a rooftop with views of the Mediterranean stretching to the horizon, the sun is already making its way back up. Barcelona nightlife exists in a category completely of its own. It runs on a different clock entirely.

ITALY

Rome (Both: History & Nightlife). This is the final boss of the history travel. The Colosseum. The Roman Forum. The Vatican. Pompeii a short train ride away. You can turn a random corner in a residential neighborhood and stumble onto a 2,000-year-old fountain nobody put on a map. By night, Trastevere looks like a film set with cobblestones, golden lantern light, locals, and travelers mixing freely over wine and pasta.

Milan (Nightlife & Culture Focus). Sleeker and more design-forward than Rome. The Navigli canal district is the epicenter of aperitivo culture and modern nightlife. Contemporary art, fashion, and rooftop bars with a sophisticated edge. Italy does nightlife slow and sensory.
